Keep on Building

“Visualize this thing that you want, see it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blueprint and begin to build.” ~ Robert Collier

You have a goal that you are determined to achieve. Once you know where to start, the journey becomes a series of steps that you have to take before you get to your end game. For any kind of aspiration, it requires a plan of action with tasks and timelines; steps to monitor and measure progress; and rewards for milestone achievements.

Along the way, things are bound to change. A mistake is made, or something deters you from the path. Something fails or someone backs out. Motivation is lost or overwhelm takes over.

Any number of challenges can present themselves on your journey; the key is to take them on and keep going.

Restructure your plan. Revise your blueprint. Use different “building materials.” Just keep the building process going. When a house is being built, contractors deal with weather issues, material shortages and customer changes all of the time. But they can’t just stop building the house and leave it unfinished. So they get flexible and work around the weather. They find suitable…and sometimes even better…substitutions for materials. They open their minds to the ideas of the homeowners for the best possible solutions. But they keep building, no matter what. And so must you. A partnership you were counting on fell through? Use those networking skills of yours to find an alternate co-creator who is equally invested in your idea or plan.

Getting off track with your advertising budget? Sit and really see how much money is wasted on non-essentials and restructure your spending plan.

Website design not looking the way you envisioned it? Let an outside colleague who knows you and your business well take a look and maybe shed some insight that you might not have thought of that would work perfectly.

Don’t get sidetracked on your journey. Let a solution present itself.

Detours are inevitable, and they actually are an opportunity to explore options you might have never thought possible, yielding an ever better result than you could have initially envisioned.

Keep your mind open, your heart passionate and your resolve determined. Build each step with flexibility and keep moving forward. Enjoy your plateaus as you reach them, because the journey to the top is more important than reaching the top itself; but don’t ever settle there. You can find the resources you need to see it through if you just let yourself think outside of the box.
